Columbia Union School District is excited to offer a structured, enriching after school program for students in Grades K-8! This program is designed to provide students with opportunities for academic enrichment, physical activity, creative expression, and social-emotional learning in a fun and supportive environment.
There will be a variety of activities that cater to different interests and needs, such as arts and crafts, STEM, academic support, physical activity, life skills, and leadership and teamwork. These activities can range from intramural sports to cooking to gardening to arts and crafts to video game design.
The district plans to offer monthly sessions that last three (3) weeks and are Monday through Thursday from 3:00 - 3:50 PM. Each session will consist of a number of opportunities available to students, and each one will detail who the supervising teacher is, the student limit, eligible grade levels, and a brief description.
When the registration forms become available next school year, parents will need to sign up their child as soon as they are able to do so. Students who are able to participate will be admitted on a “first come, first serve” basis. There is no additional cost to families to participate.
Students who participate will receive a snack and transportation, if needed.
Transportation will only be offered to students who can commit to taking the bus every day of the session and the route will be the school’s current After School Program route with no exceptions. Parents will be expected to pick up their child up at one of the said route’s stops. If students are not participating in transportation, the parent is responsible for picking up their child at 3:50 PM as no further supervision will be provided.
“Discoveries” is not part of the ELO-P/After School Program that runs until 5:00 PM. Students participating in “Discoveries” are not immediately enrolled into the ELO-P/After School Program as that is a different process.
Students may not be eligible due to behavior or attendance concerns at school or during these sessions.
“Discoveries” is an opportunity for all students to feel safe and welcome. Columbia is very excited to have more offerings available to all of our students!
