Columbia Elementary School is thrilled to welcome a familiar face into a new role, Stormie Pyle as our newest Third Grade teacher. Ms. Pyle brings a deep commitment to growth, connection, and joyful learning.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Columbia,” she shared. “Third Grade feels like the perfect opportunity to keep the fun and play of younger grades, while expanding into more academic content. I’m excited to grow alongside the students.”

With a background in inclusive classrooms and years of experience working with students from preschool through middle school, she brings both versatility and heart to her teaching. She earned her BA in Child Development from Chico State and has worked as both a paraeducator and a teacher. In fact, it was her experience as a substitute at Columbia that confirmed this was the right place to be.

“I love the community at Columbia,” she said. “Everyone genuinely wants to help children, families, and staff grow and develop. It’s a place that values connection.”

At the center of her teaching philosophy is a belief in every child’s worth and potential. “I want children to feel valued. I want learning to be fun, but also to help them realize they can do hard things.”

She hopes to build a classroom culture where students develop a love for learning, while also helping to foster a collaborative and safe environment across the grade level team. “I want us to work together to create a consistent and joyful space where students feel safe to learn and take risks.”

From watching students reach their “aha” moments to the touching praise from a colleague who once told her, “I wish you could have been my own child’s teacher,” she cherishes the moments of transformation. “It reminded me that even on the tough days, this work matters.”

Outside of the classroom, she enjoys hiking, running, and exploring the outdoors with her family, including her three (3) children.
